torn cobweb
he tells me
he'll never marry

distant whale song
the captive orca
jumps through a hoop

mosquitoes
come uninvited —
picnic on the beach

shades of autumn
the homemade kite
too heavy to fly

fog lingers
a wrong name on the note
intended for me

midday heat
the white glare of a sail
between islands
