leap day
a chaffinch adds a phrase
to his song

mammatus clouds
a wild boar
in winter wheat

ok, that's my take on something completely indigestable spewed out by a random "haiku" generator site. i'm reluctant to even post it here but since it's only a game, here goes:

scarecrow shrivels, pear
uncovers, gingko squeals, pig
disappoints, unchained

spring frost
i scribble another batch
of bad haiku

first warm day
a brimstone zips across
the snow remains

what's left of the pond ice yellow drake's feet

holiday planning
an X of contrails
across half the sky

ash wednesday
a shrinking snowman sports
the clown's wig

no vent for my anger simmering onions

rain after snow
a crowd of umbrellas rounds
an open grave

(nothing recent, just a reaction to the prompt)

in love again...
this arduous path
across the talus

new sandals blooming blisters

starlings scatter —
the rattle of klopotec
across the vineyard

(click on klopotec to find out what it's about)

Fat Thursday
a long queue
at the doughnut stall

dark pool...
the way
he looked at me

crescendo
his fingers fumble
for the hearing aid control

frozen snow
a crow dives in
a pack of tortilla chips

making sense
of life without you...
mountain creek

shell fragments
in the laundry basket —
vacation's end

in from the cold...
the sizzle of garlic
in the skillet

no longer in love...
she empties another jar
of strawberry jam

the ice thickens
he says he needs
more freedom

out of the magician's hat
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . moth
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . balls

left behind...
staring at the sky
where a rainbow vanished

a field of barley...
how to frame
the wind

between spikes
of a barbed wire
butterfly eggs

dog star...
the unsettling spark
in your eyes

moonrise
the giant catfish
puts up a fight

predawn calm...
the chug of an outboard
across the bay

arctic wind
pouring another shot
of calvados
