Polona, this fly brings to mind our local -Yellow Jacket- wasp, a fitting color. Very nice. _mshelterin the layers of this roseyellow jacket

You can make a yellow jacket look sweet! I feel happy for him sitting on that pretty rose.
syrphid flies -- nectar eaters. They help the bees pollinate flowers AND their larva eat aphids. They are also lovely to look at -- as is your photo.
