winter lingers

Nothing left to say or read since winter's lingered on, huh. But wait 'til spring's in her full glory. Lovely poem, Polona.

Very lovely haiku.

The empty page not only suggests the exhaustion of winter inspiration, it also seems to be an image for the greyness of a bleak winter sky, or the blankness of a snow-covered field. But of course the page, like the hidden field, is pregnant with the yearned-for buds of spring.

I also like the way the clever poetic construction - the first line is the single word, "staring". And it seems to hold our attention for longer than if it were part of a phrase. It almost feels like a stare, which we must break to move on to the next line.

Great poetry Polona!

winter in the soul . . .
the only known cure:
spring

@Warren - thank you, and i can't wait. but more and more it seems like spring has been cancelled this year...

@Strider - you have a special gift to articulate what a poet was trying to convey, and more. thank you for sharing it.

@Bill - i hope there is a little spring left in this soul as the season seems to have taken a loooong leave... thank you

An old one - from 2010 but still apt -

the poet’s garden
a blank page
of snow

Thanks as always for warming me with your words.
