charlie: i must admit that pic is almost a year old... loads of the white stuff last winter as opposed to this one (couldn't get a decent shot these days) the young trees tend to retain their foliage until spring - to protect the new buds, i reckon. as far as i remember, this oak was still a baby, no taller than me when i took this pic.
