a couple of grey overcast days made me crave some colour, thus this pic. the insect is not a bee, though it looks like one. and though it's hard to believe, it was taken just a few days ago (yes, mid-january).

It's a beautiful picture ,Polona. Do you know what kind of insect it is? I can tell you we had some snow to day Some frosty weather would be fine as well.Edith.
Fantastic detail on the non-bee and the flower. you must have very steady hand or use a tripod/monopod? Whatever you use, these macro shots are excellent.
Mimicry on many levels — I could use a bit of summer color, summer sun right now! Charlie's right, you know, you do the close-ups very well indeed. My camera can't handle it.
edith: thank you. it's some sort of a fly, i don't know the species. we're still in temperatures more appropriate for early april than mid january. possibility of snow next week, though, or so they say.
charlie: you're too kind, thank you. i take almost all of my pics freehanded. the light was favourable in this case.
mb: colours are always welcome. thank you for your kind words. what kind of camera do you have?
bre: thank you.
margie: i'm glad i could make you smile. thank you so much and take care!
evangeline: everything is possible in a dream (and some even come true)
qd: bright colours seem to have such efect. thank you.

This colorful, lovely picture made me smile!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
